When hardworking people get some spare time in their hectic and busy lives, they usually think well and hard on how they would want to spend their vacation time off work. Unlike most teenagers who feel that simply going to the mall is a great way to spend holidays, grown ups typically prefer to go to a place where they can relax and unwind; a place where there are less crowds, less noise; a place that is definitely calm and peaceful.

A few friends might suggest that you spend your holiday in a nature resort out of town. While this is positively a good idea, some folks may prefer not to travel and spend their holidays back home. So, what activity allows you to relax and unwind without having to go for miles and miles to do that?

One answer that people might give you is to go fishing. That's right, fishing simply entails going to the nearby lake, river or stream or better yet, the ocean if you are living near one to do your thing. A lot of people have come to love this leisurely activity and with good reasons. Here are a few of them.

* Tranquility and relaxation. We would like to stress the one reason we mentioned earlier why fishing is one great activity that you should do when on vacation and that is because it allows you to relax. When fishing, you spend your time to be in touch with the natural wonders around you whether you may be fishing on the river, on the stream or on the ocean. Imagine yourself comfortably sitting on your chair waiting for the fish to bite, while you are surrounded by clear blue waters, with luscious green trees and flora in the background plus the wind gently swaying its cool breeze all around you. As a bonus, you might get to hear some lovely chirping from the little birds nearby. Now isn't that refreshing?

* Bonding time with the family. When you search for father and son pictures, browsing through magazines or through the pages of the world wide web, seven times out of ten, you will find an image of a father and son fishing. This is because fishing is considered as one of the most enjoyable activities where father and son can truly bond with each other. Even though there is no clear proof on this, there is something about catching a fish that connects a dad and his little boy.

Perhaps, this is because both can truly get some alone time together without any of the usual distractions. This is the time where father and son can really have that heart to heart talk. A time where dad can get updated about his son's life and ask about how he is doing at school, in sports and perhaps, learn on who his newest crush is and give some man to man advice from the more experienced old man. All about the little things that little boys can only tell their dads as it would be embarrassing to tell and ask mom about.
