Three Traits You Should Have To Be Good At Fishing

There are a lot of prerequisites to sports and other recreational activities. Some require some degree of talent or skill, while others just require you to be strong.

In fishing, you need a couple of things first before you could actually make a catch. Obviously, you're going to need a fishing rod, a hook, a fishing line and some bait. Aside from this, you also need to be physically present so you could do all the hard work when reeling in your catch.

However, fishing is not as easy as it sounds. Ask anybody who has tried it. You're going to need a bunch of traits as well so you could be able to finally make a catch. It's kind of like a prerequisite, if you will, if you aspire to become a good fisherman – whether it's for recreational purposes or for work.

1. You're going to need a lot of patience.

You don't need to go jogging for ten laps around an oval neither do you need to do push ups to be good at fishing. Well okay, so maybe a little strength and muscle endurance would be quite useful but here's another thing that every single person that likes to fish must have – patience!

If you wish to catch a fish, you're going to have to wait for that fish to come to you and your bait when you're out in the water. You can't really rush fish or do something to make them come to you faster. You need to be patient enough to wait.

Think of it this way. If you're frying an egg, you can't expect to cook it in less than five seconds; what's going to happen there is that you're going to end up eating a pretty raw egg. Cooking it for too long as well would end up with a hardened yolk, and possibly even a burnt egg as a whole. You need to have patience to be able to cook it well; you can't rush things all the time you know.

2. You also definitely have to be resourceful.

So what's being resourceful have to do with fishing? Almost everything actually. You see, fish usually aren't abundant in every place you plan to fish.

Here's a situation for you. What do you do if fish don't come near your bait or fishes aren't even surfacing in the waters you're in? Do you give up? Or do you find a way around your little problem? Most people would give up after an hour or two of waiting but the more resourceful ones find ways and means to work around this thing. Perhaps change the bait or transfer to other fishing grounds where the catch would be more abundant.

3. Determination – it should always be one quality that you have.

What's your resolve to catching a fish? If it's just for fun, chances are you're not going to care much whether you catch one or not. To be determined, you need to set a goal for yourself; something so you wouldn't just easily give up.
