Four Trout Fishing Tips That Will Help Increase Your Catch
Going on another trout expedition with your friends or family? Catching trout may be as simple as hooking a worm to your hooks and casting the line into the water. But only a true fisherman knows that there are a few tips and tricks that can be followed to ensure a really good catch. And a really good catch means either you hooked a really large trout, or you hooked so many you can't even count the number of fish in your bucket on the way home. Here are a few tips to improve the way you are catching your fish.
• Know your trout – There are at least 8 kinds of trout that you can catch in your nearby lake, stream, or river. It is essential that you know what you are fishing for. Otherwise you are just casting your line to catch just about anything and that can even include an old boot. Know the kind of trout that you are after so that you know what technique to use. The 8 kind of trout are rainbow trout, brown trout, brook trout, golden trout, bull trout, apache trout, lake trout and gila trout.
• Experiment – The thing about fishing is that you won't catch anything just by casting your line in. You have to be prepared with different kinds of bait. Experimenting with different kinds of bait will let you know exactly what the trout like. You can use worms, bread pieces, and even fake bait if it's something you have on you. The point is that you should use different types of bait each time you cast your line. Only then will you know what kind of trout you will catch depending on what bait you used. Remember, if you are not catching any trout using one technique, try another technique.
• Use gang hooks – You might be used to using any regular hook to catch fish. Now this may have been something that worked when you were an inexperienced fisher but as you gain more experience, you will learn that gang hooks are the way to go. Basically, gang hooks are two hooks tied into one. Placing a worm into a gang hook will make it look like a worm in its natural environment. This means that trout will be fooled into thinking there is not danger in feeding on that worm. In turn, this means that you will have more trout biting down on your bait than usual. Invest in gang hooks if you don't have a set already.
• Synthetic bait – Believe it or not, but synthetic bait can actually be more effective than real bait, be it worms or bread. This is especially true if you use fake bait with gang hooks. You actually double your chances of catching trout by using this kind of bait over others. Of course, if you still aren't catching any trout using this technique you may need to change the location of where you are fishing. Otherwise, this is one of the most reliable bait when used with a particular kind of technique.
