Five Fishing Techniques

Fishing is a sport and like any other sport, in order to succeed at it, you need to have a few techniques up your sleeve to emerge successful. There are a lot of techniques used in fishing. Some you can do while on land and some you can do while fishing on a boat. Some you can do whether you are on a boat or on land. Here are some techniques that can help you achieve a successful catch while fishing on a boat.

• Still Fishing

Still fishing is a basic technique used by sport fishers since you can do it wherever you are. You can do it while on a pier, on a boat or on land. All you have to do is to cast your bait on the water then when it lands on the water all you have got to do is to wait for the fishes to bite. So a lot of patience is needed when using this fishing technique since it takes time for the fishes to bite in these circumstances.

• Drift Fishing

Drift fishing is a fishing technique where you are on a boat and the boat is moving but on a slow phase as you have to rely on the wind or the water current for movement. This allows you to move and fish through different places in the lake meaning you can catch different fishes depending on the location of where you caught it.

• Chumming

Chumming is a fishing technique that is done when the boat is still. This particular technique is done by throwing food like cereals, ground meat, pieces of bread, pet food, etc. onto the water. This lures the fishes nearer to the boat so that you could catch them when you cast your hook onto the water. But do not over feed the fishes because they will not be interested in your bait when you cast it into the water as they are already satisfied with what you threw in before.

• Jigging

This technique makes fishing fun and challenging. This technique requires you to move the rod or the tip of the rod in order to move the bait underwater. It creates movement which can add life to your bait and can attract the fish that you are trying to catch. You should avoid from overdoing it since a lot of unnecessary movements on the bait can spook the fish that you are trying to catch.

• Live Lining

This technique requires a body of water where there is a current basically a river or a stream. When using this technique, you should remember to just set your bait just above the bottom for it to be moved by the movement of the water current. Or you could also set it on the bottom as long as your bait is moved by the water current. It makes your bait come to life because of the movement it creates making it alluring to the fishes.
