Quality Over Quantity: The Fishing Rod Debate
A lot of people would like to argue that fishing is a relatively easy task to do no matter what kind of fishing rod you use. Natives in certain countries even use spears to catch fish, so why should we use an expensive and a “high performance” fishing rod with the fact that some people can do without it?
Well, we're all not blessed with the same amount of skills like accuracy, dexterity and all other sorts that's needed in fishing. So what we lack in talent, we can make up for in equipment. If you know that you definitely can't catch a fish with a bow and arrow or a spear, then why go through the whole thing? Generally, there are two kinds of fishing rods: there are good ones and there are poor ones. Which one should you have?
1. If you can afford a decent fishing rod, why not get one?
A few things that come into people's minds when they go about picking fishing rods is that will they really get their money's worth when shelling out a few hundred quid when buying a rod. You really don't know till you put your rod to the test. If you try fishing for fishes that are quite powerful, there is definitely that huge possibility that your fishing rod would snap when it really can't take the stress of all that pushing and pulling.
If you've got yourself a quality rod in your hands, you can be rest assured that its breaking point is definitely much higher than that of its inferior counterparts. For one thing, it's built with better materials and the technology used in building your rod is definitely ages ahead of cheaper ones. Just remember though that price doesn't necessarily spell the difference between a god fishing rod and a bad one. Always ask for an expert's advice before you close the deal on anything.
2. High quality and high performance fishing rods will definitely last longer.
With the issue of quality over quantity, quality will always win when it comes to fishing rods. Why? Who would want to frequently replace fishing rods in a span of a few weeks to a few months every now and then? This would mean an added hassle of going to a sporting goods store to find yourself a replacement and an added expense for you in buying a new rod plus spending for the gas that you use on your way headed there. If you wouldn't want to take extra trips to the Automated Teller Machine and the sporting goods store, you'd better make a good investment in fishing rods before it's too late.
3. Lower quality fishing rods will limit the range of fish that you can catch.
Such is the consequence of having a fishing rod that could snap easily if too much force is applied to it. Quality should always be stressed as a very important deciding factor when choosing the right fishing rod for you. After all, if you're fond of catching big fish like catfish and many others, you're going to need a fishing rod that's got a resolve that could match your own.
