Eight Things Not To Forget When Fishing
Getting ready for that next exciting fishing trip? Well, then besides making that plan on what kind of fish to catch, you might want to make yourself a checklist. The checklist should be something you refer to whenever you pack for a fishing extravaganza alone or with friends. With this list, you won't worry about leaving anything behind once you walk out that door early in the morning.
• Make sure to bring a change of clothes or even two. You just never know when you will need an extra shirt especially if you find yourself out in a downpour in the middle of the day. A change of dry clothes will definitely fair you well.
• Bring a rain suit and a pair of boots. Speaking of how it might rain in the middle of the day, it's always a good thing to pack these in your fishing kit. The boots will keep your feet dry and you might want to bring an extra change of socks as well.
• Bring water. There will be times when you are fishing and you will find yourself out under the blazing heat of the sun. Of course, you can always have a swig of fresh water from a nearby stream. However, you never know what is in that water so some fresh mineral water is always a plus to have in your fishing kit.
• Bring food. You can't fish and cook your catch at the same time. In fact, you aren't too sure you will be able to catch anything in the first hour or so. What if you get hungry? Make sure that you bring some sandwiches or cook yourself a meal the night before. Some fishermen also bring with them a flask of nice warm coffee to keep them awake and their appetite at bay.
• A large bucket. You just never know if your boat springs a leak or if you forget the plug while launching from the dock. This happens a lot especially with first-time boat owners. The bucket is for you to be able to dish out the water that leaks into the boat. This will buy you time to cover up the leak or at least plug the boat.
• Bring a flashlight. Are you the type who likes to start early in the morning before the sun rises? A flashlight will save you the trouble with feeling around for things on your boat and you avoid any uncalled for accidents that may occur while you are hooking the bait.
• Make sure you are charged up. If you bring any gadgets with you like your mobile phone, GPS device, or anything of that sort, make sure that your batteries are charged to the max.
• Bring a lifejacket. Yes, you may be a good swimmer. But consider the worst that could happen to you and wear your lifejacket at all times when you are fishing. This is actually the first thing that you should remember when you are walking out that door and stepping into your boat.
